Author Presentation at Brightmore

My son John and I spoke to a crowd of 40-50 residents at the Brightmore Independent Living facility in Charlotte about my new book, When Brilliance and Madness Collide: Bipolar Disorder Without Boundaries, my over 40 years' diagnosed history with Bipolar I Disorder, his experiences with my mental illness growing up and now other patients who come to the Emergency Room where he is an emergency medicine doctor, and statistics, famous cases, and symptoms of bipolar disorder in the general population. The Q&A generated many great questions from the audience and residents are still talking about the usefulness of the presentation. Some say members of their family suffer from bipolar disorder and want to talk with me further. Transparent, honest, and open discussions such as this will educate the public and help to fight the stigma. The key is to TALK ABOUT IT!
